PUTRAJAYA, April 24 (Bernama) — Putrajaya Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (PjH) and Sunway Healthcare Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (SHH) have officially inked a Heads of Agreement (HOA) to jointly develop an integrated private medical centre in Precinct 7, Putrajaya, marking a major step forward in PjH as master-developer of Putrajaya, to develop Putrajaya as a world class city with the provision of quality and state-of-the-art healthcare services, enhancing those that are provided by the well-known Putrajaya Hospital and Institut Kanser Negara (IKN).

After months of engagement and careful planning, Precinct 7 has been identified as the ideal site, given its strategic location and accessibility, with proximity to the Putrajaya Sentral, and key health institutions like the Putrajaya Hospital, Institut Kanser Negara and Akademi Perubatan Malaysia.

A Shared Vision for Health and Well-Being

With this collaboration, PjH and SHH are setting their sights on more than just a hospital – we aim to build a modern and high quality, integrated healthcare ecosystem.  The first component – the proposed medical centre is expected to house a tertiary hospital with over 300 beds, offering advanced medical services and specialist care, including a burns unit, that cater not only to Putrajaya residents but also to the wider Southern Klang Valley region as well as international patients.  “PjH as the master developer provides a lifestyle oasis with our state-of-the-art infrastructure, numerous facilities, and lush and abundant open areas.  The creation of a healthcare ecosystem is just another step to create a more holistic quality of life, everything you need right here in Putrajaya,” said Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer, Putrajaya Holdings.  “This marks a catalytic milestone in Putrajaya’s growth journey, and we are excited to collaborate with a trusted partner like Sunway Healthcare to bring this shared vision to life,” he added.

Anchoring a New Urban Health District

Strategically located next to the soon-to-be-launched Destina Putrajaya – PjH’s latest commercial development slated to open in November 2025 – the proposed medical centre will benefit from seamless connectivity across Putrajaya and modern public transport links.

Destina Putrajaya, Putrajaya’s latest transportation-oriented development is designed to seamlessly integrate residential, commercial and lifestyle components with direct access to public transportation, promoting connectivity, sustainability and urban convenience.

“We are excited to partner PjH to build a medical centre in our nation’s administrative capital, enabling the Putrajaya community and beyond to access comprehensive and quality private healthcare. We are honoured that PjH has placed their trust in us and our years of experience in developing integrated healthcare facilities and networks from the ground up, including an internationally recognised flagship Sunway Medical Centre ranked as the top Malaysian hospital according to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2025 rankings. We will strive to provide excellent facilities and compassionate, patient-centred medical care,” said Dato’ Lau Beng Long, President of Sunway Healthcare Group.

By bringing together PjH’s experience in urban development and SHH’s proven expertise in healthcare services, the collaboration is poised to elevate Putrajaya’s position as a centre for quality medical services. It marks a significant step in expanding access to specialised care and enhancing the overall healthcare landscape in the nation’s administrative capital.

BAISE SHINES IN WMO 2025 METEOROLOGICAL CALENDAR WITH LIGHTNING-PIERCED LANDSCAPE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) — A striking image titled Electric Roasted Sea Bass, captured in Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, by photographer Liang Ke, has been selected for inclusion in the WMO 2025 Meteorological Calendar.

Chosen at the 2025 Calendar Photography Contest from tens of thousands of global entries hosted by the United Nations World Meteorological Organization (WMO), it is the only Chinese photograph featured this year.

In this awe-inspiring image, multiple lightning bolts pierce through the clouds, illuminating the night sky, while below, the Youjiang River reflects a dazzling array of neon lights, creating a radiant scene. Widely shared on WMO’s platforms and global social media, the photo has drawn significant attention from domestic and international netizens.

The publicity department of Baise city in a statement highlighted that the city’s ongoing ecological efforts have played a key role in its growing recognition. In 2024, Baise became Guangxi’s only national pilot city for deepening climate-resilient city construction and was listed in China’s second batch of national pilot projects for new pollutant management.

The city also ranked ninth nationwide for surface water quality, with a 100 per cent compliance rate across 25 monitoring sites and an air quality excellence rate of 98.4 per cent.

With the continuous improvement of Baise’s ecological environment, rare wildlife such as leopard cats and Hainan partridges have been frequently spotted in the Chengbi River Nature Reserve, while the Chinese merganser, known as the “panda of birds”, has overwintered there for over a decade.

An associate researcher at China Agricultural University, Dr Wan Rong noted that Baise possesses unique ecological advantages, and the city could focus on industries like health foods and medicinal-edible resources to build a full-chain consumer ecosystem by leveraging its green potential.

Aggregating World Heritage Resources to Drive High-Quality Development of Fujian’s Cultural Tourism

NANPING, China, Apr. 14, 2025 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/–

Wuyi National Park

With the theme of “Cultivating Cultural Tourism as the Pillar Industry”, the 2025 Fujian Provincial Conference on the Development of Cultural and Tourism Economy will be held in Nanping City, Fujian Province, from April 17th to 19th.

Shortly before the conference opens, under the guidance of the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, six major 5A-level scenic areas — Mt. Wuyi Scenic Area, Kulangsu Tourist Area, Fujian Tulou (Yongding) Scenic Area, Fujian Tulou (Nanjing) Scenic Area, Taining Scenic Tourist Area, and Quanzhou Mt. Qingyuan Scenic Area — jointly initiated the establishment of the Fujian’s World Heritage 5A Scenic Area Alliance. This initiative lays a solid foundation for Fujian to integrate its world heritage resources, further promoting the province’s goal of becoming a world-renowned tourist destination. It also marks a significant step forward in the province’s pursuit of coordinated and high-quality cultural tourism development.

Mt. Wuyi, as the only World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site and National Park in Fujian Province, is also the distinguished symbol of Nanping, the host of this conference. In recent years, Nanping City has leveraged the strategic value of Mt. Wuyi National Park to enhance its “Greater Wuyi Cultural and Tourism Circle” brand and promote the development of the “Mt. Wuyi Protection and Development Belt”. The city has pioneered the construction of China’s first national park scenic road system and developed a range of themed tourism products, including biodiversity education tours and Danxia landscape photography experiences. These efforts have contributed to the creation of a “Nanping Model” that harmonizes ecological preservation with cultural and tourism development.

In addition, utilizing the resources of Mt. Wuyi National Park, Fujian Province has actively engaged in international cooperation in areas such as cultural tourism, environmental conservation, and biodiversity research with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, harvesting significant outcomes.

World Heritage Sites are treasures shared by all humanity. Fujian continues to make exemplary use of these resources to create a “go phenomenal” effect for its cultural tourism, and generate higher appeal to an international audience. From Quanzhou, the “World Heritage City” known for its Maritime Silk Road heritage, to Kulangsu, the “Island of Music” decorated with diverse global architecture; from the Fujian Tulou, which embodies the wisdom and ingenuity of the local people, to the spectacular natural landscapes of Taining Danxia and the dual heritage status of Mt. Wuyi.

Ceremony of Public Sacrifice Held to Worship Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan on the Qingming Festival in the Year of Yisi (2025)

YAN’AN, China, April 7, 2025 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/–

The Yisi Year (2025) Qingming Festival Memorial Ceremony for the Yellow Emperor was held in Shaanxi.

On the morning of April 4, the Yisi Year (2025) Qingming Festival Memorial Ceremony for the Yellow Emperor was held at the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor in Shaanxi Province. The mausoleum, located in Huangling County, Shaanxi Province, is the location of the tomb of Yellow Emperor, the common ancestor of the Chinese nation.

At 9:50 am, the memorial ceremony officially started. All the attendees were standing solemnly for the drum beats and bell rings. The 34 drumbeats symbolize the common aspiration of the whole Chinese nation, as well as all overseas Chinese to worship the ancestor of the Chinese nation. The 9 bell rings represent the highest etiquette of traditional rituals of the Chinese nation, expressing the infinite admiration and gratitude of sons and daughters of the Chinese nation to their ancestor, the Yellow Emperor.

Amidst the solemn and dignified strains of ritual music, Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and He Baoxiang, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, presented floral tributes to the statue of Yellow Emperor  Xuanyuan. Following this, Zhao Yide , Secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, presented the flower basket on behalf of the representatives of Shaanxi province. Zhao Gang, the governor of Shaanxi Province, delivered the memorial address.

After the memorial music and dance performance, a 56-meter-long Chinese dragon hovered and leaped from the center of the altar, soaring to the sky. The dragon symbolized the profound reverence of the Chinese people for their cultural ancestor and carried the collective aspiration for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation into the clouds.

Subsequently, attendees proceeded in orderly groups to pay homage at Xuanyuan Hall before visiting the Huangdi Mausoleum for tree-planting ceremonies.

The memorial ceremony was jointly organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government.
