YILI TOPS THE WORLD’S DAIRY BRAND VALUE RANKING FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH

AsiaNet 100286

Yili tops the Most Valuable Dairy Brands 2023 ranking.

LONDON, Aug. 28, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/–

On August 22, Brand Finance, the world’s leading brand valuation and strategy consultancy, issued its Food & Drink 2023 report. Yili’s brand value surged to US$12.4 billion, making a 17% increase compared to the previous year. Yili has retained the top spot for four consecutive years, showcasing its robust growth potential.

As highlighted by Brand Finance, Yili, a global dairy giant, has earned a world-renowned reputation with its focus on quality, innovation and social responsibility. The consultancy underscored that, “Yili has fostered strong customer loyalty in its local market by consistently delivering products of exceptional quality and perceived health benefits. This has contributed to strong domestic sales growth, while the brand’s global presence has also propelled its overseas revenue.”

“Dual-engine” for fast-paced growth

Yili’s “dual-engine” strategy — one that features both innovation and digitization — has greatly contributed to its brand value growth. Yili has set up a three-tiered R&D platform that includes the open innovation platform, group innovation center and BU-level application innovation platform. Running 15 R&D and innovation centers across the globe, Yili has been relentlessly pursuing whole industrial chain innovation collaboration that extends from pastures to end products.

Yili has continued its efforts aimed at meeting consumers’ diverse demands for healthier food. In 2023, Yili has led the industry by launching multiple functional dairy products that help boost people’s immune systems or control their blood-sugar levels. SATINE active lactoferrin organic pure milk, for example, is a newly launched star product that was created after 3 years of R&D, drastically improving the lactoferrin retention rate from 10% to over 90%. The new product has played a pioneering role in the industry by creating an entirely new category of immune-boosting dairy products.

Yili has also been stepping up its supply-chain digital transformation. Toward the upstream, it has developed a series of world-leading smart farms that operate without human intervention throughout their processes. Toward the midstream, it has launched numerous smart factories featuring enhanced production and management efficiency. And toward the downstream, Yili has adopted a digital consumer operation approach that covers both online and offline consumption, reaching all types of consumer scenarios and spanning the entire product life cycle.

By putting digital technology into comprehensive application, Yili has step-by-step effected digital and intelligent upgrading throughout the entire operations chain, covering various functions including R&D, manufacturing, supply chains and marketing.

Realizing the company’s social value

In April 2022, Yili became the first Chinese food company to release its peak carbon emission and carbon neutrality targets as well as a roadmap which includes a long-term pledge to achieve carbon neutrality throughout the industrial chain by 2050. Since then, Yili has gradually rolled out its carbon reduction plans and worked together with partners throughout the industrial chain to curb energy consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment.

Last year, a focus on reducing water footprints opened a new chapter for Yili’s sustainability journey. In March 2023, Yili led China’s food industry by obtaining the international water footprint verification both at the product and organizational levels. It also became China’s first company to join the UN Water Action Agenda.

As the world’s most valuable dairy brand, Yili is committed to achieving not only its own commercial success but also the sustainable development of the entire dairy industry. In pursuit of its dream of “World Integrally Sharing Health”, Yili will continue to enhance its global partnerships, innovation and digitalization to further improve its product and service quality.

PETRONITA’S ORCHID RUN & RIDE 2023 RAISES RM250,000 FOR NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) — The Orchid Run & Ride 2023 recently held at Persiaran KLCC, has successfully raised RM250,000 to fund the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)’s operations and purchase of dialysis-related equipment.

Currently, the NKF serves over 1,500 patients seeking treatment at 29 dialysis centres nationwide.

Anchored around the theme ‘Viva La Wellbeing’, the eighth edition of Orchid Run & Ride that is also held in conjunction with PETRONAS’ 49th anniversary celebration is organised by the Association of Wives and Women Staff of PETRONAS (PETRONITA), in collaboration with the national energy group.

The event also saw the support of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh; Chief Executive Officer of KLCC Property Holdings Bhd, Datuk Md Shah Mahmood; and national shuttlers from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), namely Leong Jun Hao and Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin from the men’s singles team; and K Letshanaa and Wong Ling Chin from the women’s singles team.

PETRONITA President, Puan Sri Jemilia Md Jelas said, “Since the inaugural Orchid Run and Ride in 2015, PETRONITA has contributed more than RM2 million towards improving the quality of life of the less privileged. We believe that meaningful difference begins with us, and we are committed to play an active role in providing support wherever we can.”

She added, “The success of this event is a testament to the strong collaboration and support received from everyone involved. PETRONITA wishes to thank all participants, collaborators, partners and PETRONITA members for contributing towards this impressive outcome.”

NKF Chief Executive, Khor Xin Yun said, “Our patients are generally from the lower income group who cannot afford dialysis treatments at private medical facilities. This financial support is very much needed for NKF to subsidise treatment cost and sustain the organisation.”

The mock cheque presentation was handed over by Puan Sri Jemilia during the event’s officiating ceremony, witnessed by PETRONAS President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

This year’s Orchid Run & Ride saw the attendance of around 7,000 runners and cyclists that include members of the public, PETRONAS staff and management participating in either of the three categories: 5km Fun Run, 8km Fun Ride and 12km Run.

At the event, participants also enjoyed upbeat and lively entertainment by local artist Bunga and PETRONAS talents such as Pettari and Move2Fitt.

The event garnered strong support from notable organisations which include Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank), Dialog Group Berhad, MISC Berhad and Pengerang Integrated Complex.

A collaboration between Cargill, BAR Technologies, Mitsubishi Corporation and Yara Marine Technologies has the potential to decarbonize cargo vessels by up to 30 percent

GENEVA, Aug 21 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) — Cargill and BAR Technologies’ ground-breaking innovation, BAR Tech WindWings by Yara Marine sets sail on open waters, testing new technology that will bring cutting edge wind propulsion to commercial shipping for the first time.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230820864494/en/

Mitsubishi Corporation’s Pyxis Ocean, chartered by Cargill, is the first vessel to beretrofitted with two WindWings, which are large wing sails measuring up to 37,5 meters in height that can be fitted to the deck of cargo ships to harness the power of wind. Produced by industrialization partner Yara Marine Technologies, they are expected to generate average fuel savings of up to 30 percent on new build vessels, which could be even higher if used in combination with alternative fuels. The installation of the wings took place at the COSCO shipyard in China and the Pyxis Ocean is now on the water, conducting her maiden voyage.

“The maritime industry is on a journey to decarbonize—it’s not an easy one, but it is an exciting one,” said Jan Dieleman, President of Cargill’s Ocean Transportation business. “At Cargill we have a responsibility to pioneer decarbonizing solutions across all our supply chains to meet our customer’s needs and the needs of the planet. A technology like WindWings doesn’t come without risk, and as an industry leader – in partnership with visionary shipowner Mitsubishi Corporation – we are not afraid to invest, take those risks and be transparent with our learnings to help our partners in maritime transition to a more sustainable future.”

The installation demonstrates a step-change in attitudes towards technologies that can enable an energy transition for existing vessels. The WindWings project, which is co-funded by the European Union as part of the CHEK Horizon 2020 initiative, can help the industry meet those targets by offering a retrofit solution that is capable of decarbonizing existing vessels, which is particularly relevant given that 55 percent of the world’s bulker fleets are up to nine years in age.

The performance of the WindWings will be closely monitored over the coming months to further improve their design, operation, and performance, with the aim that the Pyxis Ocean will be used to inform the scale-up and adoption across not only Cargill’s fleet but the industry. BAR Technologies and Yara Marine Technologies are already planning to build hundreds of wings over the next four years and BAR Technologies is also researching newbuilds with improved hydrodynamic hull forms.

“If international shipping is to achieve its ambition of reducing CO2 emissions, then innovation must come to the fore. Wind is a near marginal cost-free fuel and the opportunity for reducing emissions, alongside significant efficiency gains in vessel operating costs, is substantial. Today is the culmination of years of pioneering research, where we’ve invested in our unique wind sail technology and sought out a skilled industrialization partner in Yara Marine Technologies, in order to provide vessel owners and operators with an opportunity to realize these efficiencies,” said John Cooper, Chief Executive Officer, BAR Technologies.

More about the WindWing Project

  • The WindWing project is part of a project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 955286.
  • By harnessing the power of wind, WindWings can help vessel owners meet new CII rules. As wind power is not only zero emissions but is also non-depleting and hugely predictable, it offers significant efficiency gains in vessel operating costs.
  • On an average global route, WindWings can save 1.5 tonnes of fuel per WindWing per day – with the possibility of saving more on trans ocean routes. This can translate into vessel owners saving heavy fuel oil (HFO) at c$800 per tonne, which will become even more important when saving against future fuels which will undoubtedly cost a lot more.
