KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) — TEPCO Power Grid Inc recently formed a joint venture with three companies, including Tokyo Electric Power Services Co Ltd and World Business Associates Co Ltd, that signed an agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) over the Project for Improvement of Power Utility Management of Electricite du Laos.
In 2020, the Government of Laos decided to break off the transmission division of Electricite Du Laos (EDL) and establish the Electricite Du Laos Transmission Company Ltd (EDL-T) for the purpose of handling power transmission both within and outside of Laos.
In conjunction with the establishment of EDL-T, selling its high-voltage transmission division and creating company strategies and business plans in this new business environment have become pressing issues as it negotiates power sales contracts with neighboring countries, manages consigned transmission based upon transmission agreements and strengthens its distribution business.
The company must also address such issues as the creation and implementation of financing/investment plans for optimally managing domestic supply and power interchange with neighbouring countries within a new electric rate structure, the improvement of management efficiency, and the creation of structures to train human resources needed to accomplish these tasks.
Each of the companies in the joint enterprise shall leverage their strengths, such as consulting and experience in the electricity industry both within and outside of Japan, experience as financial advisers, and consulting experience pertaining to management and human resource development.
This is to help EDL strengthen its management structure and capabilities so that it can address on its own the various issues it faces, according to a statement.
The TEPCO Group will continue to cooperate as a JICA ‘Laos Power Policy Advisor’ (2020~) and as part of the JICA ‘Project for Power Quality Improvement through Upgrading Grid Code and Strengthening its Enforcement System’ (2021~) as it contributes to the development of Laos’ power sector.
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — BANDAI NAMCO Group has begun a GUNDAM-powered, sustainability project, ‘GUNDAM UNIVERSAL CENTURY DEVELOPMENT ACTION (GUDA)’, and brought together fans worldwide along with many external partners to plan and take upon a variety of initiatives for the children of the future.
As part of the initiative, ‘GUNDAM OPEN INNOVATION’ was established in an effort to gather new ideas and technologies that can face the many issues found within society such as population and global environmental problems.
To further promote the initiative, a decision has been made to extend the application period for one additional month, according to a statement.
‘GUNDAM OPEN INNOVATION’ is a programme to create future dreams and hopes by revisiting the similarities between the real world and the fictional era of GUNDAM, the ‘Universal Century’, and merging ‘GUNDAM’ with ‘future technologies’ to face the social issues that exist in both worlds.
An initial invitation for application was announced back in July this year, with the first-phase deadline set on Aug 15, and a second-phase application deadline set on Sept 15.
An overwhelming amount of applications was received, with many requests for an extended deadline. Under the concept of receiving as many ideas as possible, a third-phase deadline has been decided and set for Oct 15, with hope of seeing more ideas to come.
An interview video is now available to the public, featuring BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Corporate Managing Director and CGO, Koji Fujiwara, who is hosting ‘GUNDAM OPEN INNOVATION’ and the directors behind the ‘moving GUNDAM’ that was built last year in Yokohama.
The interview also brings up what the future of GUNDAM holds and how BANDAI NAMCO pushed out the GUNDAM brand in the form of products and services.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator logo (Graphic: WEA)
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) — The Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator (WEA), a strategic multi-partnership initiative established by five UN agencies and Mary Kay Inc is celebrating its second-year anniversary by announcing progress on several programmes designed to impact five million women worldwide by 2030.
The programmes and knowledge products, which further demonstrate WEA’s commitment to maximising the development impact of women’s entrepreneurship in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), will be rolled out in the fourth quarter of this year, according to a statement.
The strategic programmes, all shaped with a unique focus on gender, are the joint outcome of the collaboration between the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), UN Global Compact (UNGC), UN Development Programme (UNDP) and UN Women with the strategic support and funding of Mary Kay.
In collaboration with ITC SheTrades, the Accelerator will offer a guided curriculum supplemented by on-the-ground training for women from developing countries interested in entrepreneurship and/or planning to integrate into regional and global value chains. The 2021 in-country training sessions will take place virtually in Brazil, Colombia, India, and Mexico.
As part of WEA’s objectives for 2020-2021, the ILO is focusing on strengthening advocacy for women’s entrepreneurship development in Mexico and Brazil. In Mexico, WEA and ILO will be releasing findings from an assessment on framework conditions that impact women’s entrepreneurship development.
Gender-responsive procurement (GRP) can have a transformational impact on domestic and international economies and contribute to women’s economic empowerment.
WEA has participated in the Generation Equality Forum in Paris (June 30-July 2) through the ‘Drivers of Change’ Programming, hosting a panel titled ‘Building a Transformative Strategy for Gender-Responsive Procurement’, aiming to create awareness around the complex and interconnected barriers of women’s entrepreneurship and to promote GRP.
UN Women’s main contributions to the Accelerator’s GRP line of work in 2021 include establishing the Business Case for GRP through the launch of a community of practice (CoP) in July in collaboration with UN Global Compact to engage stakeholders from the private sector.
On Sept 28, the Accelerator will hold a virtual event titled ‘Joining Forces to Drive Change’, convening the senior management of ILO, ITC, UNDP, UNGC, and UN Women with introductory remarks from Mary Kay.

View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210923005372/en/ Over 80 Korean ICT SMEs and 62 buyers from 29 countries, including the U.S., Brazil, Belgium, China, and Vietnam, attended the business meeting held on September 15 and 16 using the WOW platform. The platform is an online show platform to help domestic ICT businesses enter overseas markets and expand export in the difficult times after the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was held online and offline concurrently at the venue in COEX. For companies that could not attend the fair, an online consultation service was provided in the form of a three-way video conference with the buyers and interpreters.
To realize the successful export contract of the attending companies, a prior demand survey was conducted for business matching with buyers. In addition, to overcome the limitations of the contactless format of this event, a directory book on the participating companies’ products was produced and distributed to buyers to provide sufficient information about the companies. Moreover, the participating SMEs were provided with opportunities to receive professional trade and IR consulting services in order to help them resolve their current difficulties.
Through the fair, not only was export consulting to a scale of USD 57 million carried out, but also some companies concluded MOUs. For instance, More Dream Inc. entered into a USD 50,000 MOU with MAIZA Tech of Malaysia to export multilingual keyboard technology for smartphones. Other companies including Hurien and HelloFactory are also in the process of positive discussion to enter into MOUs with overseas buyers.
A KAIT official said, “We will continue striving to help businesses achieve substantial outcomes through systematic follow-up management support and monitoring, such as by holding the second export fair during November targeting businesses that are highly likely to win orders.”
