“SHENZHEN STORIES” PROMOTION EVENT HELD IN BEIJING

BEIJING, June 26, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/–

Co-hosted by the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions and the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, the “Shenzhen Stories” Promotion Event kicked off in Beijing on the evening of June 21.

Nearly 200 Chinese and foreign participants, including diplomatic envoys from various countries to China, representatives of international organizations in China, and media representatives, gathered in Beijing to feel the charm of Chinese traditional culture and learn about Shenzhen’s explorations and practices of Chinese modernization, according to Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.

Marc Hubsch, Luxembourg’s ambassador to China, delivered a speech stating that from Shenzhen’s growth, we could feel the city’s spirit of openness and the strong driving force behind China’s economic growth. Marc Hubsch has visited Shenzhen multiple times and believes that Shenzhen is a city where people coexist harmoniously with nature and is a young city with a rich cultural heritage.

This promotion event mainly consists of three parts: the Dragon Boat Festival cultural experience, “Shenzhen Stories” themed exhibition, and dance drama “Wing Chun”. The activities like making Zongzi, wearing sachets and woven bracelets, and taking photos in traditional costumes enhanced participants’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

At the promotion event, the exhibition of famous Shenzhen brands told and explained “Shenzhen Stories” in an all-round way, winning great applause from the diplomatic envoys. They said that Shenzhen is the window of China’s reform and opening up, and it is also a wonderful epitome of Chinese modernization.

According to Marc Hubsch, as the forefront of China’s reform and opening up, Shenzhen epitomizes China’s rapid development. From the progress of Shenzhen, one can experience the city’s spirit of openness and the strong driving force behind China’s economic growth.

Later that night, Chinese and foreign guests watched the Shenzhen-produced dance drama “Wing Chun”, which combines two national intangible cultural heritages, “Wing Chun” and gambiered Canton gauze. It integrates traditional martial arts with contemporary dance, highlights the unique charm of Lingnan culture, and showcases the spirit of Shenzhen in the new era.

The diplomatic envoys gave thumbs-up to the performance after watching, stating that the dance drama “Wing Chun” was full of Chinese traditional cultural characteristics and told stories about Shenzhen, Guangdong, the Greater Bay Area, and even China through the beauty of dance and martial arts.

“I would say that it [Shenzhen] is a place which is constantly changing, which is good because it keeps you interested,” Emmanuel Stantzos, Greek ambassador to China, said during an on-site interview. “I suggest people to visit Shenzhen and to experience this change.”

MARY KAY, ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION TO PLANT 100,000 TREES SUPPORTING REFORESTATION

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) — In conjunction with its 60th anniversary, Mary Kay announced its 2023 reforestation projects in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to celebrate 15 years of positive community impact with the foundation.

“Deforestation and climate change could cost the global economy many billions over the coming years, our hope at Mary Kay is that these projects lessen those impacts while providing valuable wildlife habitats.

“These newly planted forests will grow and provide valuable resources, ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations,” said Mary Kay Inc Chief Operating Officer, Deborah Gibbins in a statement.

This year’s global reforestation projects include planting of 80,000 trees to support rare habitat restoration and biodiversity in multiple Georgia counties, in the United States.

Through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, longleaf and shortleaf pines will be planted across private and public lands in Georgia. As the trees grow, they will reduce forest fragmentation and support endangered and threatened wildlife like the red-cockaded woodpecker, eastern indigo snake and gopher tortoise.

Meanwhile, in the Lassen National Forest, California, 12,000 trees are being planted to support wildfire recovery. This project focuses efforts on the health of the Lassen National Forest, home to hundreds of wildlife species and vital to the landscape’s health and nearby Lake Almanor.

Furthermore, 4,000 trees are being planted to support sustainable forestry, watershed restoration and biodiversity in Mexico’s Cerro Pelon Butterfly Sanctuary, aiming to reestablish oyamel fir cover in these areas while benefiting the local community.

In Belorado, Spain, 4,000 trees are being planted to support wildfire recovery. Planting a diverse mix of young deciduous trees in this area will help hold the soil and make the land more resilient to climate change and fires. And for a rural area affected by rural-to-urban migration, this project will provide ongoing maintenance jobs throughout the region.

Mary Kay’s and the Arbor Day Foundation’s partnership began in 2008 and has achieved several important milestones throughout its 15-year cooperation. To date, they have planted 1.3 million trees via its partnership and continue to work toward future impact with an additional 100,000 trees this year.

DERIV’S PHILANTHROPIC VENTURE: DRIVING SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH SPONSORSHIP OF 4L TROPHY

The 6,000 km rally over 10 days took place in February this year, starting in France and concluding in Morocco, with the aim of helping underprivileged children in Africa.

PARIS, June 22 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —
Deriv, one of the leading online brokers, has been actively participating in humanitarian efforts that are aligned with its core values of being reliable, fair, transparent, and responsible. Earlier this year, Deriv sponsored a team of two young professionals who successfully completed the 4L Trophy rally, an annual humanitarian car rally that raises funds for the cause of underprivileged children in Africa.

The 4L Trophy rally started in France and ended in Morocco, covering a 6,000 km journey over 10 days. It required participants to drive through challenging terrain, navigating their way through various checkpoints. A long journey for a noble cause: deliver stationery and textbooks for underprivileged children along the way.

“The challenges of navigating unfamiliar terrain, camping in the middle of nowhere, and crossing the finish line were thrilling and rewarding,” Clement David, one of the drivers sponsored by Deriv, said. “But what made the experience truly special was the opportunity to make a difference in children’s lives by delivering much-needed school supplies.”

Jean-Yves Sireau, founder and CEO of Deriv, said: “Deriv’s participation in the 4L Trophy rally is a testament to our commitment to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. We believe in supporting causes that empower individuals and communities to thrive, and education is a critical component of that.”

“We believe that businesses have a responsibility to give back to society,” added Sireau. “Through our philanthropic efforts, we hope to inspire other organisations to do their part in making the world a better place.”

The 4L Trophy rally is just one example of Deriv’s involvement in humanitarian initiatives. Earlier this year, the company had also donated 11 boxes of clothes to Fundacion Unidos por Cristo (Asunción, Paraguay), a residential home that provides comprehensive care to children and adolescents at risk.

THE TOP 5 PLACES TO DO BUSINESS IN 2023 ACCORDING TO THE WORLD CITIZENSHIP REPORT: CS GLOBAL PARTNERS

London, June 21 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Access to opportunity is one of the most desirable qualities that any jurisdiction can offer.

This year, the 2023 World Citizenship Report measured 188 countries in the world, looking at what these nations have to offer High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and the mass affluent who are continually looking past their home borders for better opportunities.

One key motivator that was measured in the report was Economic Opportunity, which measures the overall ability of a nation to extend wealth, material comfort, and other key benefits of a strong economy to all of its citizens.

Greater access to improved business environments and employment opportunities allows individuals to participate in the economy while achieving their goals of securing their financial futures and raising the standard of living for themselves and their families. But it doesn’t end there. Apart from the supplementary benefits of social mobility, a reduction in income disparity, and greater capital formation, having the freedom to pursue key financial goals leads to significant investment in an individual’s own well-being, their families, and their communities, which, more often, is accompanied by a greater sense of purpose.

Not only have global mass affluent individuals shown to be willing to travel to access more powerful economies globally, but they also desire supportive business environments which enable them to fully realise their entrepreneurial potential.

A shift in economic growth from the West to emerging markets over the past few decades has led to new business hubs worldwide. Regions such as Asia, the Middle East, and South America have seen rapid economic growth, coupled with improved infrastructure and, in some cases, lighter regulation.

Entrepreneurs the world over are capitalizing on this, often by going through the citizenship by investment (CBI) route of a country that allows access to profitable business opportunities in booming markets across the globe.

The World Citizenship Report looks at the top business hubs globally, among other motivators for individuals looking to widen their prospects. Other motivators explored by the World Citizenship Report are Safety and Security, Quality of Life, Global Mobility, and Financial Freedom. The World Citizenship Report is based on research by London-headquartered leading government advisory and marketing firm CS Global Partners

So which countries are the world’s most sought-after business hubs in 2023?

5. Switzerland and Japan

Switzerland and Japan both tied at fifth place, ranking at 82.3 in the Economic Opportunity pillar.

Switzerland, the 20th biggest economy in the world, is a well-known financial hub and a great place to invest thanks to its stable economy and strong business culture. The country is also known for its innovation and flourishing start-ups in the major cities.

In addition to its positive economic outlook, Japan is noted for its internal stability. The nation is considered one of the most politically stable countries in the world, as well as one of the safest to travel in for work or business. Japan’s economy has gained momentum in 2023 with surveys of business activity indicating that the economy is growing.

4. Netherlands

Taking fourth place, the Netherlands scored 82.4 and the country continues to be a good place to start a business. Considered as the gateway to Europe, the Netherlands has a stable business climate where ambitious companies can tap into innovation ecosystems to accelerate their businesses.

3. Hong Kong (SAR) China

In third place with a score of 83.1 is Hong Kong. The country has a free-enterprise, free-trade economy and the government has traditionally adopted a policy of non-intervention in the private sector, while at the same time providing the territory with a modern and sophisticated commercial infrastructure and a sound legal and administrative framework.

2. United States of America

In second place is the United States of America. As one of the most recognised economies in the world, the USA offers a lucrative open market that is a powerful growth engine for companies of all sizes. Coupled with a predictable and stable political and judicial system where intellectual property is protected, the USA is a great place for business investment of any kind.

The country scored 83.7 in this year’s World Citizenship Report.

1. Singapore
Singapore was crowned as the best place to do business this year with a score of 84.8. Singapore has a conducive environment for business given its regulatory environment, stable and efficient infrastructure to support starting a business, access to financial intermediation and services, and enforcement of contracts. The economy makes it easy for domestic and international businesses to make their mark in the global arena.
