KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) — Fortrea, a global contract research organisation, has partnered with Omico, an Australian oncology screening and trial matching organisation, to help connect cancer patients with clinical trials matched to the genetic profile of their tumours.
In a statement, Fortrea said the collaboration aims to improve study planning, site selection and patient recruitment for cancer research based on genetic markers.
“Our work with Omico accelerates our ability to identify the right patients for biomarker-driven studies in Australia and help advance precision medicine for people with cancer,” said Fortrea Chief Medical Officer, Dr Oren Cohen.
Fortrea said Omico will give its clients access to patient population insights in Australia, including genomic profiling, trial matching, real-world oncology data and patient referral pathways.
The partnership draws on Omico’s Precision Oncology Screening Platform Enabling Clinical Trials programme, which profiles patients’ tumours to match them with targeted therapies and trials.
Omico Chief Science and Strategy Officer, Professor David Thomas said combining Omico’s national data and trial matching capabilities with Fortrea’s global clinical development expertise would help international sponsors identify suitable patients, plan trials more effectively and recruit participants.
Omico has more than 23,000 consented patients in its databases and has received referrals from over 1,600 clinicians across Australia.
