Located in the northwest of Hainan Free Trade Port, Changjiang Li Autonomous County was full of laughter and joy on the evening of April 16. The celebration activities of “Sanyuesan (3rd of the 3rd Lunar Month)”, the traditional annual festival of Hainan Li and Miao ethnic groups, came to a close here. During the 3-day celebrations, the guests and tourists from all over China appreciated the scenery of Changjiang, experienced the customs of the Li ethnic group, and enjoyed the ecological, environmental and humanistic beauty of Changjiang.

As the main venue of Hainan Li and Miao traditional festival “Sanyuesan (3rd of the 3rd Lunar Month)” celebration activities, Changjiang held a series of interesting and wonderful activities, according to Changjiang Media Convergence Centre. The activities with typical local characteristics included the Li and Miao original ecological folk song antiphon, Li brocade and Miao embroidery skill show and competition, and ethnic interesting traditional sports. These activities fully showed the rich spiritual and cultural life and unique ethnic culture of minority groups.

The Li brocade and Miao embroidery skill competition attracted 78 contestants from 14 cities and counties in Hainan Free Trade Port. The exquisite skills of the contestants were praised by the audience. During the competition, there were models wearing Li and Miao costumes to display the new fashion of Li and Miao costumes.

The Li and Miao original ecological folk song antiphon attracted the contestants from nine cities and counties including Sanya, Baisha, and Lingshui. Dressed in ethnic costumes, the contestants sang the original ecological folk song of Hainan Li and Miao ethnic groups in combination with speaking, teasing and dancing.

With the “Sanyuesan (3rd of the 3rd Lunar Month)” celebration activities, Changjiang, Hainan has attracted many tourists from all over the country. The tourists have been impressed by the natural scenery, minority culture and characteristic food in Changjiang. This event has promoted the tourism development and city image of Changjiang with ethnic cultural elements.

Make leisure industry go the extra mile – 16th World Leisure Congress



KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — The 16th World Leisure Congress themed ‘Leisure Makes Life Better’ recently concluded at the Jinhai Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pinggu District, Beijing.

Through combination of online and offline means, Chinese and foreign concepts on leisure were exchanged and various forms of leisure business were displayed to push the leisure industry even further.

According to the Executive Committee Office of the 2020 Beijing Pinggu World Leisure Congress, the congress consisted of the opening ceremony, one main forum, 14 parallel sub-fora, China (Beijing) International Leisure Industry Exposition, award ceremony, nine featured leisure activities and the closing ceremony, which attracted over 110,000 visitors to Pinggu.

Based on a statement, more than 80,000 people participated in the congress through the ‘online + offline’ modes, with the congress yielding fruitful results.

UNWTO Executive Director Zhu Shanzhong, Chief Operating Officer Cristina Ortega of the World Leisure Organization, Director Ou Xiaoli of the Social Affairs Department, the National Development and Reform Commission, and Former Director Shan Jixiang of the Palace Museum were among other experts and scholars delivering speeches on the theme of ‘Leisure Makes Life Better’.

A total of 162 experts and scholars attended the congress online and offline to share academic views and release academic results.

The congress received 342 papers from Chinese and foreign experts and 332 abstracts in Chinese and foreign languages. The papers for and videos about the congress are available online for disseminating and promoting the concepts of leisure.

Featured leisure activities such as China International Mind Games Challenge, Beijing International Peach Culture Forum and Peach Garden Calligraphy were held during the congress to attract the participation of the general public.

April 14, 2021 is the third day of the third month in the Chinese lunar calendar which is also a traditional festival of the Li and Miao ethnic groups. Changjiang Li Autonomous County, located in the northwest of Hainan Free Trade Port, has held a series of activities to attract tourists across China to experience the customs of the Li and Miao ethnic groups in Hainan.

According to the Changjiang Media Convergence Centre, on April 15 to 16, Changjiang Li Autonomous County also held the Li and Miao original ecological folk song antiphon, Li brocade and Miao embroidery skill competition, ethnic bonfire night, Wangxia Township – Li Hua Li tourism experience, pottery experience, etc.

The annual “Sanyuesan” is a cultural custom handed down for thousands of years by the Li and Miao people in Hainan which is a traditional festival for them to mourn their ancestors, celebrate the new birth, praise life, eulogize heroes and pursue love among young men and women.

Changjiang Li Autonomous County, as the main venue of 2021 Hainan Li and Miao traditional festival “Sanyuesan” celebration activities, held interesting sports on April 14, park entertainment, hitting coconut with stick and other ethnic minority traditional sports, attracting a large number of tourists to enjoy with cheering.

Changjiang is famous for its beautiful natural scenery and unique culture of ethnic minorities in Hainan. In Changjiang, you can not only enjoy Changjiang Qiong Opera, Li folk songs and the unique local culture — village songs, but also visit the 205 scenic spots. Among them, Changjiang Rainbowstone Bay and Bawangling Natural Reserve are listed in the 17 key scenic spots in Hainan. In addition, there are the Qiantie Cave, a human site of 20,000 years ago, the Boat House Tribe in Hongshui Village of Wangxia Township, the Emperor Cave, the Temple of King Junling, the Ancient City of Changhua, etc.

HEZE, ‘PEONY CAPITAL OF CHINA’ HOSTS 3 EVENTS THIS MONTH

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) — Three events will kick off in Heze, Shandong province, this month, the Information Office of the Heze Municipal People’s Government announced via a statement.

The events are the 2021 World Peony Conference, the 30th Heze International Peony Cultural Tourism Festival, and the 2021 Heze Cultural Tourism Development Conference.

Heze is known as the Peony Capital of China. Its peony industry has developed in a multi-faceted way, producing a range of peony-based merchandise such as ornamentals, medicines and health products. 

Additionally, peony-themed creative and cultural output, such as peony flowers, peony print silk and traditional Chinese peony flower paper-cutting, is also flourishing.

There are nine ornamental peony gardens in Heze, including the Caozhou Peony Garden, Baihua Peony Garden and Chinese Peony Garden.

Cultivation of ornamental peonies in Heze covers some 50,000 mu, mainly peony varieties more suitable for gardens, pot plants and fresh-cut flowers to meet modern market demand for parks and gardens, as well as for flower arrangements.

On the other hand, the peony sector currently provides more than 100,000 jobs in Heze, covering the gamut from peony cultivation to processing and sales. 

There have been more than 240 peony cosmetic products, personal hygiene products and food products developed, making it China’s largest export base of peony flowers and associated products.

The Heze Government also launched the Blooming World Peony Series Awards to further promote the development of the peony industry and peony culture and art.

JAPAN NATIONAL TOURISM ORGANIZATION LAUNCHES COUNTRY’S MANY-SPLENDOURED INSIDER GUIDE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) — The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) recently launched Insider Guide to Japan, celebrating the country’s many traditions, innovations, natural wonders and adventures.

2021 is a landmark year for Japan, as Tokyo gears up to host the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the country is set to be one of the top travel destinations.

According to a statement, JNTO will launch a series of newsletters from this month to serve as an insider’s guide to Japan’s many traditions and innovations.

Given the volume of attractions across the country, JNTO categorises Japan’s travel offerings into seven passions: Cuisine, Outdoors, Relaxation, Nature, Tradition, Art, and Cities. 

In addition, JNTO has launched ‘Experiences in Japan’, a website that showcases activities based on these Seven Passions.

While preparing for the resumption of inbound travel, JNTO is also taking a number of COVID-19 measures to ensure peace of mind for visitors, including multilingual infographics on precautions as well as emergency information. 

JNTO president, Seino Satoshi said: “Tokyo 2020 will begin from July 23 this year. Taking place 10 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the torch relay will demonstrate the nation’s recovery to the world.”
