KOLMAR BNH REINFORCES POSITION WITH CERTIFICATION FOR ADDED FUNCTIONALITY OF HEMOHIM

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) — Kolmar BNH, an Original Development Manufacturing (ODM) company for health functional foods, has acquired certification for the additional functionality of HemoHIM, a renowned Korean health supplement, to strengthen its market position.

A Kolmar BNH official in a statement said through relentless research and development (R&D) efforts, the company has enhanced the competitiveness of HemoHIM.

“We are dedicated to promoting K-health functional food globally through ongoing innovations in HemoHIM,” said the official.

The company secured approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the fatigue-improving function of the HemoHIM extract complex derived from angelica gigas and other components in 2023.

This achievement was made six years after the launch of its HemoHIM Sustainable Technology Development Project. As a result, HemoHIM came to the market as a dual-functional health product designed to boost immune function and reduce fatigue.

Distributed by Atomy, it is exported to over 20 countries, generating over two trillion Korean won in sales with exports exceeding US$200 million and has remained Korea’s top-selling immune booster for over a decade. (US$1=RM4.71)

Continuing its commitment to innovation following the launch of HemoHIM, Kolmar BNH allocates over two per cent of its annual sales to R&D, aiming to enhance product functionality and fortify competitive advantage.

HemoHIM G, targeting the global market, is one of the results of such dedication to R&D. Launched in Taiwan last month, HemoHIM G is a new product for export that has made meticulous adjustments to its raw materials and ingredient proportions to comply with international food regulations.

Its key ingredients went through rigorous sourcing procedures and stringent quality control, while the taste and aroma profiles were tailored to suit the preferences of global consumers. Furthermore, its safety has been certified in the prestigious academic journal “Toxicological Research”, accredited at the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) level.

Saudi Ministry of Culture and Tokyo-based art collective teamLab launched the Middle East’s first teamLab Borderless museum in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Historic Jeddah

Spanning 10,000 sqm of gross floor area, a ‘museum without a map’ comprises over 80 digitally-created artworks that transcend boundaries

Spanning approximately 10,000 sqm of gross floor area, the museum is the Middle East’s first-ever teamLab Borderless to be permanently established on the shores of Alarbaeen Lagoon, overlooking the panoramic views of Historic Jeddah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

teamLab Borderless Jeddah is one of Saudi Arabia’s Quality of Life Programme initiatives to develop and foster cultural and arts exhibition infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening the Kingdom’s contribution to arts and culture, one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

NIKKISO CE&IG GROUP TO SUPPLY ABOUT 24 LIQUID-BASED HYDROGEN STATIONS IN SOUTH KOREA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) — Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group (CE&IG), part of Nikkiso Co Ltd’s Industrial division, announced it has been awarded contracts to build and maintain approximately two dozen liquid-based hydrogen (LH2) fuelling stations in South Korea, following its most recent award by SK Plug Hyverse.

“SK Plug Hyverse is a tremendous partner for Nikkiso in South Korea because together we bring exceptional capabilities and people to support South Korea’s progressive approach to establishing a competitive hydrogen economy.

“Nikkiso admires South Korea’s productive and pragmatic approach to scaling up the hydrogen economy, and we look forward to further opportunities supporting its efforts,” said its Chief Executive Officer, Peter Wagner in a statement.

As more buses and heavy-duty trucks look to lower carbon emissions while keeping long-distance driving capabilities, many fleet operators, transit authorities, and agencies are looking to liquid hydrogen as a solution for quick-fills and long-distance routes.

Nikkiso’s experience developing and manufacturing cryogenic pumps for more than 70 years and alternative fuels fuelling stations for 26 years is attracting companies like SK Plug Hyverse that want capable partners to help grow South Korea’s hydrogen infrastructure and economy.

Several liquid hydrogen stations in South Korea have already been commissioned, successfully fuelling buses back-to-back, and ramping up to capacity, while the remaining stations in the country will be brought online over the next 12 months.

SURVEY FINDS GEN Z PURCHASING POWER TO GROW US$12 TRILLION BY 2030

KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) — The first of its kind comprehensive generational spending report on Gen Z which makes up 25 per cent (two billion) of the world’s population, revealed that their global spending power is projected to reach US$12 trillion by 2030. (US$1=RM4.70)

This potentially makes them the wealthiest generation in every region of the world and is set to be the youngest generation to overtake Boomer spending by then, and expected to contribute over US$9 trillion in global spending by 2034, more than any other generation.

According to a statement, the “Spend Z” report uncovers precisely what companies seeking to secure pathways to growth need to urgently and intimately understand about Gen Z, including their preferences, spending habits, values, priorities, as well as how and where they shop.

Among the takeaways from the report also unveiled that Gen Z demand authenticity as they are more interested in authentic relationships with influencers and brands. “Being true to yourself” is the number one ranked description of success for the generation globally.

In addition, their in-store purchases make up almost 50 per cent of their share of dollars and is higher than every other generation before them, even though Gen Z begins their shopping journey online, ranks online reviews from other shoppers as the most important factor when shopping and is heavily influenced by social media.

Gen Z will become the highest consumer spending class in many regions, and 30 per cent of the global workforce in 2030, whereby North America, Europe and Asia Pacific (APAC) will continue to dominate the majority of spending with APAC becoming increasingly important.

Additionally, the report finds that overall Gen Z are health conscious and sustainability minded, and responding to that, NIQ also expects NIQ ​​Better For, a classification leveraging the company’s proprietary algorithm to identify brands through product characteristics, positioning, sales and distribution, products to continue to grow faster than conventional products.

This category includes products that are “better for” the consumer, the environment, and society in which currently, small brands and younger generations drive 62 per cent of the growth in this category.

CHINA’S ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY EMBRACING THE WAVE OF GLOBAL CULTURAL EXCHANGES

On June 10, Zhejiang University (ZJU) in Hangzhou, located in East China’s Zhejiang province, celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday highlighted by dragon boat races in honor of the ancient poet Qu Yuan. During the festivities, ZJU hosted the Whiffenpoofs from Yale University, the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Together with ZJU’s Wenqin Chorus, they performed choral pieces for the faculty and students, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to this cherished festival.

A week prior to the festival, students from global leading universities, including Harvard University, Yale University, UC Berkeley, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Tokyo, Yonsei University, and the University of Cambridge, converged at Zhejiang University, one of China’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions.  

During the campus tour, international students enjoyed the dragon and lion dances, watched traditional opera and folk music performances, and tried their hand at calligraphy and seal-engraving. They also visited ZJU’s Museum of Art and Archaeology, which featured an exhibition on Asian civilizations along the Silk Road. With over 210 artifacts spanning five thousand years, the exhibition provided the students with insights into the rich history and cultural exchange of Asian societies.

These cultural immersions followed their participation in the 2024 International Elite Universities Water Sports Open, held on June 1-2. Co-organized by Zhejiang University, the event featured such competitions as a dragon boat 12-athlete 200m race, and a recreational kayak 200m race.
