“RAINFOREST AND YOU” EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITY HELD IN WUZHISHAN, HAINAN, CHINA

Recently, an activity themed “Rainforest and You” that integrates live-action performance at fields was held in Wuzhishan City, Hainan Free Trade Port, China. The pleasant rural scenery, unique culture of Li ethnic group, and wonderful singing and dancing performances have attracted a large number of tourists, according to Publicity Department of Wuzhishan Municipal Party Committee.
 
This year, the main venue of the “Rainforest and You” is set in the Wuzhishan area of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park. There will be more than ten cultural tourism activities, including natural education, forest health care, leisure and vacation, ecological science popularization and wildlife appreciation, successively carried out in the surrounding cities and counties of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park.
 
According to Lin Qing, the chief planner and chief director of the “Rainforest and You” activity, the live-action performances are the highlight of this activity, which, under the natural background of Wuzhishan rural grain-sunning ground, ecological farmlands, and field trails, integrated with the local minority cultures, include about 430 local mass to act in the performances together, and are planned to be upgraded to a sustainable rural cultural tourism project.
 
The “Rainforest and You” activity is an ecological culture brand activity planned and launched by Hainan Province. It aims to fully enhance the publicity and promotion of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park, show the charm of the national park, cultivate the national park culture, spread the concept of the national park, and display the fruitful results of tropical rain forest protection and national park construction in all respects.

Hainan Free Trade Port an important window for world to observe Chinese modernisation

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) — The Hainan Free Trade Port, in the next fi ve years and beyond, will emerge as an important window for the world to observeChinese modernisation, according to the relevant responsible person of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee.

Hainan is at the forefront of China’s reform and opening up. With the development of free trade ports with Chinese characteristics, policies such as the introductionof talent and zero tariffs have been implemented and the world’s attention is increasingly paid to the province.

In recent years, it has also become a global investment hotspot.

In a statement, the department said a four-day “Yeah! Hainan” foreign media photography activity was launched in Haikou City on November 14.

The activity is held in the hope that foreign media will show the world an open, beautiful and vibrant free trade port so that the international community canunderstand Hainan, be familiar with Hainan and love Hainan.

Reporters of international mainstream media entered Haikou to learn about local tourism consumption, high and new technologies and ecological environmentprotection to experience Hainan’s charm of Chinese modernisation.

MARY KAY INC ANNOUNCES ITS SPONSORED DOCUMENTARY SELECTED FOR FOUR FILM FESTIVALS

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) — Mary Kay Inc, a global advocate for sustainability, has announced that its sponsored documentary, Forest of Hope, has been officially selected for four film festivals.

Written, directed, and produced by an all-female team and screened at La Femme International Film Festival, the documentary sheds light on the fight to save forests and tells the story of conservation and women’s empowerment.

“Forest of Hope was also selected for the North Dakota Environmental Rights Film Festival, Hot Springs International Women’s Film Festival, and the Green Film Festival,” said Mary Kay in a statement.

Mary Kay served as an executive producer of the short film in partnership with The Nature Conservancy to highlight the story of Angelica, leader of Mujeres Unidas Para La Conservacion de Laguna de Sanchez, and a group of female entrepreneurs as they combat environmental challenges in the surrounding areas of the city of Monterrey.

Forest of Hope takes viewers to a small mountain town near the city of Monterrey surrounded by Cumbres National Park, a natural reserve known as “The Lungs of the Region”.

It is a place where fires and clear cutting have destroyed over 30 per cent of the forest and which is prone to other ecological challenges such as hurricanes, flooding, and issues with water supply.

In the same statement, Mary Kay said it has planted more than 1.2 million trees across the world and its conservation work with trees is measurable and creates a lasting impact.

TRADITIONAL FOLK ART YANGGU WOOD CARVING HAS HISTORY OF OVER 200 YEARS

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) — Yanggu County, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province is a millennial ancient city, where the Yellow River culture, canal culture, Water Margin culture, and Dongyi culture are blended, providing a cultural soil for folk art and traditional crafts.

In addition to this is the deposits of various traditional folk arts, among which Yanggu wood carving has a history of more than 200 years. Wood carving is an important part of the traditional Chinese carving art.

Wang Chuancheng, 68, is the representative inheritor of Yanggu wood carving in Shandong Province where his representative works include Confucius, the Founder of the Thought of Great Harmony, and Nine Phoenix Screen.

In his exhibition hall, the wood carving works embody smooth and simple cutting techniques, lively characters, and vivid natural shapes.

In 2013, Yanggu wood carving was selected as an intangible cultural heritage of Shandong Province, according to a statement by the Information Office of YangGu District People’s Government.

The local wood carving works mostly originate from the story of Water Margin and local folk customs, with extremely complex production processes from design, material selection, cutting, and woodworking, to carving, assembly, polishing and waxing.

US$73.5 BLN WORTH OF DEALS INKED AT 5TH CHINA INTERNATIONAL IMPORT EXPO

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) — The fifth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), held in Shanghai earlier this month, has recorded tentative deals valued at US$73.52 billion (US$1=RM4.59), up 3.9 per cent from the previous year.

In a statement, the CIIE Bureau said this year’s expo, like previous editions, comprised a business exhibition, the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, a country exhibition, as well as a slew of supporting activities and people-to-people and cultural exchange programmes.

The six-day expo attracted participants from 145 countries, regions and international organisations. Over 2,800 enterprises, including 284 of the world’s top 500 enterprises and industry giants, showcased their products and services at the business exhibition.

The fifth CIIE also welcomed 39 trade missions and nearly 600 sub-trade missions with more than 600 intended deals were reached at 82 project signing ceremonies.

In addition, a total of 293 cooperation intention agreements involving US$5.9 billion worth of products and services were signed at trade and investment matchmaking conferences during the expo.

This year’s online country exhibition enabled 69 countries and international organisations to display their scientific and technological achievements, culture and art. The online exhibition saw 59 million visits, more than the previous edition.

“About 100,000 square metres of exhibition space for next year’s CIIE has already been booked,” the statement said.
