AirlineRatings.com removes passenger worry via COVID-19 ratings

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — AirlineRatings.com has launched COVID-19 ratings, answering questions on airlines’ full protocol implementation and correct pilot training.

The world’s only safety and product rating website is giving passengers greater peace of mind with a refined safety rating system focused on passenger health during COVID-19 and an insight into crucial flight outcomes on hundreds of carriers.

According to a statement, for a COVID-19 compliance star, airlines must pass four of six criteria.

The criteria are website information on COVID-19 procedures; face mask for passengers; personal protection equipment for crew; modified meal service; deep clean of aircraft; and, social distancing on boarding.

Completion or compliance of audits – ICAO, IOSA, EU black list and FAA restricted list – make up an additional star.

While introducing the COVID-19 rating, AirlineRatings.com has refined its rating system to focus on serious incidents as a guide to an airline’s operational performance and pilot training.

AirlineRatings.com rates the safety and in-flight product of 380 airlines. More details at https://www.airlineratings.com/

Soka Gakkai calls for nuclear weapon elimination

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — The Soka Gakkai Buddhist organisation recently put out a statement, calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons and early entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

This is to mark the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, according to a statement.

The Soka Gakkai pledges to exert all efforts for the complete elimination of nuclear weapons and also urges the Japanese Government to move toward participation in the TPNW.

“In recent years, there are signs that a nuclear arms race among the nuclear-weapon states is again intensifying,” said Yoshiki Tanigawa, chair of the Soka Gakkai Council on Peace Issues, in a statement.

“At the same time, the global spread of the novel coronavirus has demonstrated that military force is incapable of resolving global challenges, compelling us to confront the question of what constitutes authentic security for human beings.”

Today and Aug 8, respectively, the Soka Gakkai in Hiroshima and Nagasaki will hold online meetings to listen to testimonies of hibakusha, the survivors of the atomic bombings, while the Soka Gakkai in Japan will hold an online youth summit toward the renunciation of war in September.

At the global level, the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), with around 200 organisations of different faith backgrounds has signed a Joint Interfaith Statement on the 75th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Soka Gakkai is a global Buddhist organisation with 12 million members worldwide that promotes peace, culture and education. More details at http://www.sgi.org.

SAVONIX AND MITANI SANGYO PARTNERSHIP INTRODUCES DIGITAL COGNITIVE SCREENING FOR EMPLOYEES FOR EARLY DEMENTIA PREVENTION

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 3 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) — Savonix, a global leader in digital cognitive health testing, and Japanese trading company Mitani Sangyo Co, Ltd, announced yesterday a strategic partnership to provide Savonix’s digital cognitive assessment to all its employees over the age of 40. The test is not mandatory but will be highly encouraged. Mitani Sangyo also provides benefits to employees who have cognitive impairment.

A virtual joint press conference was held on July 29th, 2020, at 10:00am Japan time. Savonix CEO and Founder Dr. Mylea Charvat discussed the collaboration, and gave a live demonstration and overview of Savonix’s assessment. The event also highlighted the importance of dementia prevention.

“Mitani Sangyo has introduced Savonix’s cognitive assessment to all employees over the age of 40. This is an unprecedented initiative in the world. Dementia is a health problem facing a super-aging Japanese society, and a risk that will become a huge problem for all Japanese companies that implement long-term employment as they relax or eliminate the retirement age. Not only will affected individuals be unable to work, but the impact and stress on those around them and their families during the course of their progress are also enormous. However, it has become clear that dementia can be prevented, and its progress can be stopped by reviewing lifestyle changes and improving social relationships. And I understand that the earlier it is, the better. In Japan, we have the ‘100-year life society,’ and it is important to extend healthy life expectancy and to be able to work for a long time. Our approximately 3,300 employees vary in age from their teens to their late 80s. To ensure that all employees and their families can work with peace of mind, I promise, as a company, that we will place emphasis not only on physical and mental health but also on brain health. Savonix is an excellent solution that enables early detection of signs of dementia and provides a preventive action in just 20 minutes. It is a necessary solution not only for us, but also for Japanese companies in this aging country,” said Mitani Sangyo President and CEO, Tadateru Mitani.

“This partnership with Mitani Sangyo, one of the largest trading companies in Japan, highlights the value Savonix brings to the workplace in terms of employee health and wellness,” said Dr. Charvat. “Our digital cognitive assessment platform enables employees to assess and monitor their brain health over time. A clinically validated, neurocognitive test, Savonix provides real-time results for individuals who want to take control of their brain health and is available for employers who want to give them the tools to do so and peace of mind.”
